The International School of Catalunya (ISCAT) seeks applications from Primary and Secondary educators with teaching and/or leadership experience in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and an interest in leading the school’s secondary project, now in the planning stages, and scheduled for launch in September 2013.
ISCAT is a British School in Barcelona following the National Curriculum of England and Wales. A philosophy encompassing a holistic approach to children’s learning, experience or knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, and the ability to communicate in Spanish and/or Catalan would be a distinct advantage.
Applications should be forwarded to the Director at director@iscat.es
ISCAT opened its doors for the first time in 2007, with a mission to offer both local and international families a modern and dynamic education for their children. Keeping the school small – with just one-form entry, and a maximum of 20 students in each class is important to us in shaping our own particular culture of learning and community spirit.
Applicants should have a minimum of two years teaching experience. Ability to work with the International Primary Curriculum with an appreciation of the philosophy of the Primary Years programe (PY P) and the English National Curriculum, together with a willingness to incorporate aspects of the Reggio Emilia approach into the Early Childhood programme, will be valued. Full integration of technology into the classroom is a feature of ISCAT and candidates would need to have experience of, or at least feel comfortable, working with Smartboard technology. Experience with children learning English in the mainstream is sought, as English is not the first language of all students. As a growing school, applications from candidates with particular strengths in Science, Literacy, Visual Arts or EAL are of special interest.
The school is located 40 minutes from Barcelona centre, in the pleasant spa town of La Garriga. It is equidistant (40 minutes) from Barcelona and Girona airports, both of which offer multiple low-cost opportunities to a range of destinations. ISCAT is just 30 minutes away from the beaches of the Costa Brava and the Costa Dorada and one and a half hours from the Pyrenees, and its dozens of quality skiing opportunities.
