This week at ISCAT we have celebrated La Castanyada. In Primary, during the week we have done different activities. On Wednesday children from Nursery to Year 2 participated in a Panellets workshop. Panellets are a traditional dessert that people eat on La Castanyada celebration. The traditional recipe includes a lot of nuts, but because we are a nut free school, our main ingredients were carrots, sugar and coconut.
On Thursday all of Primary went on a trip to Parc Aventura in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, an adventure park where we got to climb up on trees, go over moving wooden bridges, go down zip lines and other adventures. We had a really fun day in the nature!
Finally, on Friday we met for our Friday Assembly where four children from Year 6 explained to us why we celebrate La Castanyada and what are the similarities with Halloween, both celebrated on the same day. Some children from Year 4 explained to us about the trip and then, children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 sang and danced La Castanyera song for all of us. In the afternoon, we all got to enjoy the decorations and crafts that we have all been making to help decorate the school for our traditional Autumn Festival.
Bona Castanyada a tothom!
