Chemistry experiment (Year 13)

Chemistry experiment (Year 13)

Year 13 chemistry students have done their first experiment of this school year!

They used various metals (copper and zinc) and their ion solutions to make an electrochemical cell aka., a battery. In addition, they used a salt bridge to complete the circuit. This way allowed the flow of electrons between the half cells.

They attached the circuit system to a voltmeter. It was in order to measure the voltage created by the flow of electrons and so to calculate the different electrode potentials (emf).
