International Day of the Forest: Big Clean up

Sunday 21st March was International Day of the Forest and this year ISCAT have continued in our commitment to the Global Goals of Sustainable Development and UNICEF Convention of the Rights of a Child, by creating a “Big Clean Up” project in our local forest so that all of the local community can enjoy their natural beauty of the area.
Students from Early Year to Year 10 arrived at school on Monday 22nd March, kitted out with protective gloves ready to make a difference.
Some students took part in activities of sequencing the journey of the litter to it’s final destination: our oceans and food chain. Using natural forest materials, they recreated what they had learned during the activity and were able to see how this directly impacted many of the UNICEF Rights of the Child such as:
Article 3 – Best Interest Of A Child
Article 4 – Making Rights Real
Article 6 – Life Survival and Development
Article 24 – Health, Water, Food and Environment
Article 29 – Aims of Education
Article 31 – Rest, Play, Culture
We have now set ourselves a challenge of sharing this information with 5 people each and we are inviting you to join us!
