Friday 8th March 2019 is International Women´s Day. This is a day to celebrate all of the amazing things done by women. It is a way to show how women have, and continue to, influence the world because they are outstanding at what they do. At ISCAT we looked at International Women´s Day in Assembly. We found out about famous women who pushed the boundaries and made developments in women´s rights, such as, Amelia Earhart, Jane Austen and Marie Curie. We discussed the importance of equality and how we can work towards achieving it, which is the Global Goal that Year 5L are focussing on this year. In our Assembly, we learned about Malala Yousafzai and her journey towards fighting for girls to enjoy their right to an education (UNICEF Article 28). Lots of children were inspired by Malala´s strength and bravery. We talked about how writing a blog allowed her voice reach a big platform and she was supported by the world during her fight for rights. On this day, the girls and boys at ISCAT will celebrate the changes made by famous women and support each other´s dreams in order to work towards gender equality in the world.
