Rights Respecting:”Life under Water”

One aim of Sustainable Development Goal 14 “Life under Water” is to protect marine and coastal ecosystems from pollution. As a Rights Respecting School and as a part of Topic, Year 3 decided to make a recycled plastic sculpture. Students want to make people think about what harm plastic is causing. Also they want to help spread the word that we need to stop polluting our beautiful blue planet.
The children planned, designed their own sculptures and brought in the recycled materials to school to create their masterpieces. These sculptures will be displayed in the school to help create awareness of a very important issue in our Rights Respecting School.
Year 3 will now use a wonderful rhyming story about a magpie who realises that the treasure he loves is bad for the environment as a stimulus to learn more about recycling. After that, students will consider what they can do to play their part to help!
