Social Commitment

At ISCAT, education goes beyond academic learning. We believe that schools play a vital role in helping young people develop empathy, responsibility and a strong sense of global citizenship. For this reason, social commitment and community engagement are an essential part of life at our school.

ISCAT is proud to be recognised by UNICEF as a Rights Respecting School, having achieved and renewed Level 3 Gold accreditation. This reflects our commitment to promoting children’s rights, equality and active participation in school life.

Environmental awareness is also a key element of our approach. Through our Forest School philosophy and initiatives such as the Annual Forest Clean-Up, students develop respect for nature and learn the importance of protecting their environment.

In Key Stage 3, students explore global challenges through the Global Skills subject within the Oxford International Curriculum. As part of this programme, they design and take part in projects that promote social awareness and responsible action. Recent initiatives include projects against food waste, developed in collaboration with the local Food Bank, helping students understand sustainability and social responsibility.

Students are also actively involved in projects that connect them with the local community. Year 6 students participate in workshops with residents from Autism La Garriga, encouraging inclusion and understanding. We also maintain a long-standing collaboration with Can Jordan, a local residential home, where students share cultural activities such as poetry presentations and musical performances.

Beyond the local community, ISCAT students take part in international solidarity initiatives, including our collaboration with Tandi School in The Gambia, where the school community raises funds to support educational resources and classroom development.

ISCAT also organises regular workshops for students and families on important topics such as anti-bullying, emotional wellbeing and responsible use of technology, helping young people and parents navigate the challenges of growing up in today’s digital world.

Through these experiences, students learn that education is not only about knowledge, but also about compassion, responsibility and engagement with the world around them.
