Our story

Over 10 years of teaching

a personalised approach and authentic learning

The International School of Catalunya (ISCAT) opened its doors for the first time in 2007, with a mission to offer both local and international families a values-based and dynamic education for their children.

Not only keeping the classes small, but also fostering close contact between students and staff, was and is important to us in shaping our own particular culture of learning and community spirit. ISCAT has grown from just 13 students in its first year to a current enrolment of more than 200.

In 2012, we established our Forest School programme, currently a pioneer project in Spain. This, under the guidance of Forest Leader Emma Montgomery, has complemented our outdoor education programme.

We are proud to have been accepted by UNICEF as an accredited Rights Respecting School, with the articles of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child underpinning much of our programme of learning.

Our mission

HIGEST STANDARDS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

We offer a stimulating, engaging and challenging multicultural environment where the intellectual, emotional and creative potential of each student is developed, optimised and respected.

Z

Higest standards of academic achievement

ISCAT encourages the highest standards of academic achievement and provides access to third-level institutions across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Z

School’s commitment

The value given to each child’s personality, home language, creativity and rhythm of development is characteristic of the school’s commitment, requiring that the classroom become, for each and every child, a place of welcome, a nurturing environment, where each individual enters happily each day, confident that his or her own personality is respected and valued.

Z

Curriculum

The curriculum, which is compatible with the local “Plan de la Generalitat”, is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales and brings together the best of anglophone education abroad.

Z

School's pedagogy

At every instance, our school’s pedagogy supports high academic achievement, intellectual, creative and emotional development for each child, and the fostering of a lifelong passion for learning.

Shaped and guided by our slogan ‘Where Learning Comes Alive’,
we constantly seek ways to enrich the academic and personal development and learning of our students.
