Geraldine Bhoyroo
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT & YEAR 13 FORM TUTOR
With a BA (Hons) in English Literary Studies and French from Middlesex University , and an MA (Hons) in Creative Writing from Birkbeck University of London, Geraldine is not only Head of Secondary and Sixth Form at ISCAT, but teaches English at both GCSE and A Level. Having gained both teaching and management experience at Waltham Forest College (London), in her spare time Geraldine makes regular contributions to live poetry performances and to online magazines.

Juan Barcena
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT & YEAR 7 FORM TUTOR
Juan graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Masters in Romance Languages. A seasoned traveller, his work as an educator has taken him to many exotic and diverse locations around the globe – Costa Rica, New Orleans, India -excelling as a teacher of Spanish and P.E within the British system in all his posts. He is especially interested in everything sports-related, travel and food. A keen writer, Juan’s book ‘Latidos’ – a beautiful account of his travels around the globe, was published last May. Juan teaches Spanish at ISCAT and is currently acting Head of Secondary and A Levels (Sixth Form)

Xavier Maroñas
YEAR 8 FORM TUTOR & COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER
Xavier is IT coordinator at ISCAT and teaches Computer Science from Year 6 to Year 13 . He holds a PhD (cum laude) in Computer Science from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. He is an Apple fan, a Lego addict and science fiction enthusiast but most enjoys spending time with his young family. Xavi has built and published dozens of iPhone and iPad apps on the App Store, reaching the number 1 spot around the world with one in particular. He successfully created five tech companies which are all still operational and collaborated with an NGO to provide vacations in our country for children from the Chernobyl área. His latest challenge is to learn to play the acoustic guitar!

Diego Lázaro
YEAR 9 FORM TUTOR & P.E., MATHS AND SCIENCE TEACHER
Diego teaches Physical Education, Science and Mathematics at ISCAT. After graduating from the University of Leon, where he studied Science in Sport and Physical Education, as well as a Master of Education in Secondary Education, he spent six years teaching in Secondary schools in the UK. However, finally his love of sun and good food drew him once again to Spain. Diego loves travelling, reading historical, fantasy and science fiction novels, nature and all kinds of sports (basketball, football, handball, cycling, athletics, volleyball, gymnastics, etc.).

Erin Stuckenbruck
YEAR 10 FORM TUTOR & MATHEMATICS TEACHER
Erin teaches Mathematics throughout Secondary and to A Level. Erin holds a Masters degree in Secondary Mathematics as well as a B.A in Mathematics and Music from Bard College, New York. With over ten years experience in teaching different math curricula in New York, Germany and Spain, Erin’s enthusiasm for Mathematics inspires every student. Apart from leading our students to excellence at GCSE and A Level, Erin leads the Maths Club at ISCAT, coaching and preparing its members for international competitions in Mathematics. In her spare time, Erin loves to dedicate time to her other passion – music.

Matthew Morris
YEAR 11 FORM TUTOR & ENGLISH TEACHER
Matthew graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Music Technology from Leeds Beckett and an MA in the Psychology of Music from Sheffield University. He teaches English to GCSE and A Level at ISCAT and enjoys cooking and walking in the mountains.

Katherine Mayne
YEAR 12 FORM TUTOR, HISTORY TEACHER & EXAMS OFFICER
Katherine completed her BA Hons in Political Science at Newcastle University and then proceeded to take the Graduate Diploma in Law from Leeds Metropolitan University. For the first part of her career Katherine worked in asylum and refugee law . After deciding to pursue an alternative path Katherine completed a PGCE with Nottingham University and taught for 5 years in an international school in Thailand, before returning to the UK to complete her QTS in her hometown of Newcastle. She is ISCAT’s History and Politics teacher as well as our exams officer. She enjoys travelling and learning more about other cultures and peoples and tries to bring this international perspective into her teaching wherever possible.

Saffron Toms
ART TEACHER
Saffron teaches Art and Design throughout Secondary, including to GCSE and A Level. She gained a BA (Hons) in Photography from Hereford College of Art and her QTS qualification at The Sutton Park SCITT. Saffron’s interests are very much led by her creative pursuits and she has exhibited her artwork at various locations in the UK. She also likes cooking, walking and fitness.

Claire Ryan
CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY TEACHER</p> <p>
Claire teaches Biology and Chemistry at ISCAT to GCSE and A Level, having graduated from Maynooth University, Ireland with a BSc in Science Education. She obtained her QTS in the UK and National Curriculum experience at Slough, England. Coming from a family of educators, Claire’s twin sister is also a teacher. She loves Gaelic football, photography and the Rolling Stones and makes an amazing lemon drizzle cake.

Alexandra Anastasiadou
SCIENCE TEACHER
Alex is an environmental physicist, teaching Science in KS3, Physics in KS4 and KS5 and some Chemistry in KS4. She studied physics in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and did a postgraduate degree in Environmental Engineering in Crete, obtaining her QTS (qualified teacher status) from the UK, having worked in research prior to pursuing her passion for teaching. Alex loves travelling and in her free time enjoys yoga, going climbing and playing music. She is also a competent linguist – speaking Greek, English, French and Spanish fluently.

Scott Shepherd
GEOGRAPHY AND TRAVEL AND TOURISM TEACHER
Scott teaches Geography to GCSE and A Level as well as BTEC Travel and Tourism. He also plays an active role in ISCAT’s Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Having trained as a Geographer at the California State University, Sacramento, Scott worked as a Research Analyst for the State of California, testing new technologies such as the global positioning system and geographical information systems, giving him 14 years experience of working with maps, demographics, geology and databases. He has been stimulated and strengthened by the international relocations he has made with his family, and his daily joys and rewards include the positive feedback on lessons from his students, yoga, strenuous hikes and bike rides – all of which have driven his resolve as much as his endurance!

Joana Regolf
CATALAN AND SPANISH TEACHER
Joana Regolf teaches Secondary Spanish Language, Catalan Language and the History and Geography of Spain and Catalonia. She graduated from Hispanic Language and Literature obtained at the URV in Tarragona. She is currently studying to specialize in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. Her main hobbies are reading, long afternoons watching science fiction or horror movies, enjoying good TV series or listening to music. She loves spending time with her family and friends. In the future she would like to learn Japanese and take up dancing again.
