In English, Year 8 & Year 9 students are currently working on persuasive language skills (debates, written work in newspapers or magazines and/or social media).

Matthew, our English teacher, uses a broad range of strategies to motivate, such as: “Matching topics to known interests such as video games or arranging spoken activities or movement in the classroom to help engage with the lesson objective.”

What’s the best advice you can give your students to help them do well in this subject? What skills do they particularly need?

– “Reading skills and an ability to read widely on a variety of topics that interest them.”
