In Year 10 History, our students have been studying Changes in Medicine, c.1848–1948 as part of their GCSE curriculum 📚
They’ve explored major medical advances across a century – from Florence Nightingale’s work on hospital hygiene, Joseph Lister’s discovery of antiseptics, and the pioneering research of Pasteur, Koch and Marie Curie, right through to the Second World War, the development of penicillin, and the founding of the NHS.💊🩺
That’s a lot of history to cover! To round off the module, students created a timeline poster of key events and figures from the period. This hands-on activity helped them step away from the textbook, visualise the bigger picture, and consolidate their learning in a creative and engaging way 👏✨
